EHS Manager

A rapidly growing Asian e-commerce and technology company is expanding its operations in Japan. The organization operates an advanced, vertically integrated logistics and fulfillment network supporting cross-border procurement and export activities across Asia.

The Japan operation was launched recently and is in an active growth phase. A key logistics and procurement facility in Chiba serves as a strategic hub for receiving goods from suppliers and exporting products to overseas markets. Headcount at the site is expected to increase steadily as operations scale.

This position is a newly established role and will be the first dedicated EHS function at the site, offering the opportunity to design and implement safety, health, and compliance frameworks from the ground up in a dynamic logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

As the onsite EHS Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting daily safety and health audits within the warehouse facility

  • Ensuring compliance with Japanese occupational safety and health regulations

  • Acting as the primary point of contact with government authorities, including labor and fire departments

  • Performing site inspections and risk assessments

  • Delivering EHS training and awareness programs for employees and onsite staff

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining SOPs, guidelines, and EHS policies

  • Investigating incidents and accidents and leading corrective actions

  • Initially operating as a standalone EHS representative, with potential to build and manage a small team in the future

  • Collaborating closely with operations teams, site leadership, and internal stakeholders in Japan and at regional or global headquarters

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of one of the following certifications:

    • Class II Health Supervisor License

    • Class I Health Supervisor License

    • Health Engineering Health Supervisor License

  • Approximately 5 or more years of experience in EHS-related roles

  • Native-level Japanese and conversational English proficiency

  • Strong communication skills to engage with internal teams and external authorities

  • Ability to work independently in a hands-on, onsite role

Preferred Background

  • Experience in logistics, warehousing, delivery operations, or manufacturing

  • Background in fast-growing or operationally intensive environments

  • Experience leading or mentoring team members
