Position: Life Science Sales Representative – Imaging & Analysis Division

Employment Details

  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Working Hours: 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (7.5 hours per day, with a 1-hour lunch break)

  • Work Style: Flexible working hours (no core time)

  • Holidays: Weekends, national holidays, year-end/New Year holidays, and summer vacation

  • Compensation: Base salary plus sales/specialist allowance depending on role

  • Bonus: Performance-based (target approximately 20% of annual base salary)

  • Salary Review: Annually, typically in July

  • Bonus Payments: Twice per year (typically July and December)

Role Overview

The Life Science Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting and selling imaging and analytical instruments, including confocal microscopy systems and related software, within the Life Science segment of the Imaging & Analysis Division.

This position focuses on driving sales growth, managing customer relationships, and expanding business opportunities across academic institutions, government laboratories, and private-sector R&D organizations in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell imaging and analytical products for life science applications.

  • Manage existing key accounts and sales territories, including OEM and reseller partners such as microscope and analytical equipment manufacturers and distributors.

  • Identify, engage, and develop new customers while maintaining strong relationships with existing ones.

  • Oversee the complete sales process, including lead generation, technical consultation, proposal development, negotiation, and order fulfillment.

  • Provide after-sales support, troubleshooting, and customer service to ensure long-term satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM or other designated sales tracking systems.

  • Collaborate closely with industry partners and distributors to promote instruments and software to R&D teams, analytical departments, and academic or public research organizations.

  • Participate in and organize promotional activities such as seminars, trade shows, and scientific conferences across Japan.

  • Communicate regularly with global development and manufacturing sites in Europe and the United States regarding product specifications, delivery schedules, and technical inquiries (primarily via English email).

  • Domestic travel within Japan several times per month is expected.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.

  • Several years of sales experience with scientific, analytical, or microscopy-related instruments.

  • Previous experience in the life science sector strongly preferred.

  • Experience managing distributors or channel partners is advantageous.

  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong presentation and business writing abilities.

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
