Purchasing Staff (Procurement)
Position Overview
A publicly listed manufacturing company in Japan is seeking a Purchasing Staff member to join its Procurement Department. This position is well suited for candidates with experience in sales, finance, accounting, or purchasing support roles, including those who are early in their careers or recent graduates. Prior industry experience is not required.
The role focuses on cost optimization and supplier management for automotive and EV-related components, playing a key role in strengthening procurement operations both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Manage procurement activities for automotive and EV-related components, covering price, delivery schedules, and quality standards
Coordinate the end-to-end purchasing process, including supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and import-related procedures
Support cost-reduction initiatives through sourcing strategy improvements and supplier development
Engage with internal departments such as development and manufacturing to ensure smooth material flow
Participate in upstream decision-making processes that directly impact production and business performance

Qualifications
Required
At least one year of experience in roles involving pricing, margin awareness, or commercial negotiation (e.g., sales, retail, finance, accounting, purchasing assistant)
Comfort working with numbers, including estimates, cost structures, and condition comparisons
Willingness to learn English after joining; high proficiency is not required at entry
Preferred
Experience handling electronic components in a procurement role

Compensation
Monthly salary range: approximately JPY 212,000 to JPY 344,000 (base salary)
Annual compensation is adjusted based on experience and skills
Salary increases: once per year
Bonuses: twice per year
Estimated annual income includes an assumption of approximately 20 hours of monthly overtime
Working Conditions
Work location: Head office in the Tokyo metropolitan area
Remote work: Available with manager approval
Transfers: None expected in the short term; potential for future relocation exists
Working hours:
Flexible working hours with core time
Standard schedule: approximately 8:15–17:15
Break time: 60 minutes
Average overtime: approximately 25 hours per month

Complete five-day workweek (Saturday and Sunday off)

Paid annual leave: 10–20 days (granted after six months of employment)
