Senior Associate

Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to own key finance and operational workstreams across Japan private equity investment entities, with a strong focus on deal closing execution. This role will serve as the day-to-day point of contact for local deal teams and external partners, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-controlled fund flows, reporting, and governance. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, partnering closely with the Finance Manager in Japan and the broader Global Private Equity Finance team in Hong Kong and Boston.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the local Finance Manager and lead the below activities. • Work closely with local deal team during deal closing process and post-closing support, including but not limited to:

• Work together with investment professionals, counsel, and advisors on deal closing mechanism and ensure accurate fund flow documentation for control and approval

• Liaise new bank account opening process

• Communicate with internal/external teams on funding wire set up and logistics

• Ensure implementation of appropriate accounting, operational and cash control procedure

• Assist in the quarterly valuation review process

• Provide post-closing assistance to deal team (e.g. budget vs actual performance of portfolios)

• Liaise with external parties (e.g. fund administrators) in the preparation and review of financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy for quarterly external reporting and annual audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filing for investment entities in Japan

• Handle expense payment processing and maintain tracker of deal fee spending

• Review the monthly bank reconciliation prepared by administrator and conduct cash balance management in the investment entities

• Work with internal teams on new system implementation

• Support in ad-hoc tasks and projects as they arise Asia Private Equity Finance – Senior Associate (Japan Based)

Essential Characteristics

• 6-8 years of Big 4 public accounting AND/OR operational related experience at Asset Management industry (in-house Private Equity operations experience would be a plus)

• Qualified accountant preferred with working knowledge of JGAAP, USGAAP

• Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese

• Proficiency in Excel required

• Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment interacting with multi-cultural teams, and handle wide range of ad-hoc tasks under deadlines

• Ability to work in flexible working environment and ability to follow through on implementation of process initiatives

• Ability to build working relationships across various departments with individuals at different experience levels
