【JOB RESPONSIBILITIES】

  • Work with global and regional stakeholders to support the execution of the Global Trade strategy for Japan

  • Develop and maintain adequate local import and export compliance policies and related guidance

  • Oversee of local import and export audit and monitoring program Report results of self-testing and risk assessment to leadership and drive implementation of any countermeasures

  • Provide day to day trade compliance advise/guidance to associates in the business, trade and legal teams including sharing of controlled and non-controlled data, disposition of any potential matches that result from screening, etc.

  • Monitor updates to export laws and regulations, assess the impact on company’s and its subsidiaries’ systems and processes, and modify export processes and procedures as necessary to ensure compliance

  • Develop and administer training (both online and in person) on export matters that reflect the latest developments in Trade Compliance regulations

  • Support regional Compliance and duty management programs including (but not limited to) import/export operations, import and export classification, relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Valuation, and other programs

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all import and export trade related matters in Japan

  • Apply for various Government permits where needed to facilitate seamless exports and imports

  • Support the Japan legal entities during Customs audits and other relevant government agency inquiries

  • Manage activities of regional customs brokers to ensure timely border clearance

  • Conduct business reviews with regional stakeholders on an ongoing basis to drive continuous improvement

 

【Qualifications】

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of trade compliance experience specific to Japan, Trade compliance lawyer or Big Four Firm working experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global team environment

  • Experience supporting both import and export regulatory compliance programs

  • Knowledge of import/export operational process and customs requirements

  • Ability to communicate (verbal, written) effectively in English across multiple levels

  • Experience working in the healthcare industry preferred

  • Six sigma and/or lean experience preferred
