Role Overview
We are seeking a Web Director to lead the localization of global companies’ websites and digital advertisements for the Japanese market.
You will manage entire project cycles—from planning and design to production management and final quality checks—working closely with internal teams and external partners.
This role is ideal for someone who can balance creative thinking with strong project management and clear client communication.
Responsibilities
Planning & Design
Define requirements through direct communication with clients
Design site structure and visual concepts based on agreed specifications
Propose UX/UI approaches optimized for the Japanese market
Provide creative input to strengthen the effectiveness of localized content
Project Management & Execution
Manage project schedules and ensure timely delivery of all assigned tasks
Coordinate with internal designers, engineers, and external vendors
Hold regular client meetings: provide progress updates, clarify requirements, propose solutions
Handle resource coordination, issue resolution, and risk management
Ensure smooth production workflows and transparent communication across teams
Quality Assurance
Collaborate with QA teams to ensure correct display and functionality across all major devices and browsers
Verify that localized content aligns with brand, technical, and usability standards
Take ownership of the final quality of all deliverables
Work Location
Tokyo Branch (Hybrid/Onsite policies may apply depending on project needs)
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of practical experience as a Web Director
Strong sense of responsibility and ability to stay committed to long-term projects (1 year+)
Basic understanding of HTML / CSS (able to identify what changed and how)
Excellent communication skills:
Ability to accurately capture client requirements
Ability to ask precise questions and clarify unclear points
Proactive communication and issue-raising
Strong analytical and information‑gathering skills
Ability to think independently, solve problems, and take initiative
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating and maintaining websites
Experience localizing English‑language websites into Japanese
English proficiency:
Reading (specifications, documents)
Listening (client calls, internal meetings)
