Role Overview
The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of buildings, facilities, and physical infrastructure within the property. This role ensures that all equipment, systems, and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
The position leads engineering operations including budgeting, capital improvement projects, preventive maintenance programs, and energy management initiatives. The Director of Engineering works to maintain high operational standards while supporting both guest satisfaction and overall financial performance.
The role also oversees emergency response procedures related to facility operations.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience

Minimum 6 years of experience in engineering, facility maintenance, or a related technical field

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Operations & Budget Management

Monitor engineering department performance against financial targets and operational plans

Manage facility systems including HVAC, electrical infrastructure, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems

Oversee maintenance contracts and service vendors supporting facility operations

Ensure emergency response teams are trained and familiar with building systems and safety procedures

Guide engineering leadership to effectively control operational expenses such as utilities, equipment, maintenance supplies, and service agreements

Develop engineering strategies aligned with overall business objectives

Prepare and manage departmental budgets

Implement long-term preventive maintenance plans and asset protection programs

Review financial reports to assess departmental performance and address areas of concern

Communicate engineering goals and operational priorities to the team

Supervise facility construction or renovation projects to ensure completion within timelines and budget
Maintaining Engineering Standards

Ensure compliance with national, regional, and local regulations related to building operations

Maintain life safety systems including fire protection equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems

Confirm that all required permits, licenses, and certifications are up to date

Ensure property policies and operational procedures are consistently applied
Financial Performance & Cost Control

Monitor operational spending and ensure alignment with approved budgets

Review financial statements and operational reports to evaluate departmental profitability

Manage payroll and staffing costs within engineering operations

Control expenses related to utilities, maintenance supplies, equipment, and service providers

Support planning and execution of capital improvement projects
