International-Style Ryokan – Nagano | 35 Rooms
Overview
Our client operates a boutique, international-style ryokan in Nagano with 35 rooms. They are seeking a Front Office Manager to lead daily front desk and guest experience operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to step into their first management role. English ability is not required, and a Japanese candidate is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day Front Office operations, including check-in/out, reservations, and guest inquiries
Lead, train, and schedule front desk staff to ensure smooth and efficient service
Maintain high service standards aligned with the ryokan’s international yet traditional style
Handle guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally
Coordinate closely with Housekeeping, F&B, and Operations teams
Support operational planning, workflow improvements, and guest experience enhancement
Manage daily reports, occupancy updates, and basic revenue tracking
Represent the property’s values and ensure a welcoming environment for all guests
Requirements
Japanese nationality or strong familiarity with Japanese hospitality culture (preferred)
No English ability required
Experience in Front Office or Guest Services at a hotel/ryokan (Assistant Manager level welcome)
Strong communication and service-minded approach
Leadership potential with the ability to guide and support a small team
Comfortable working in a boutique environment with hands-on operations
