[RESPONSIBILITIES]

We are seeking a Marketing Manager, Japan who will own country-level marketing programs with a primary focus on influencer marketing, while also supporting paid media and CRM initiatives. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires creativity, data-driven decision making, and deep knowledge of the Japanese market.

You will be the go-to expert for all Japan marketing initiatives, working closely with our global Growth team and local agencies to ensure our brand resonates authentically with Japanese learners.

Influencer Marketing (70%)

  • Develop and execute end-to-end influencer programs in Japan across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.

  • Lead influencer identification, casting, negotiations, and contracting (mix of in-house management and agency collaboration).

  • Build and manage relationships with influencers, including offering proactive support and creative guidance.

  • Build landing pages, campaign briefs, and content guidelines tailored for Japanese audiences.

  • Manage campaign operations: budget allocation, campaign tracking, reporting, and optimization.

  • Test and iterate on new influencer formats and partnerships to scale growth.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key creators and agencies.

Paid Advertising Support (15%)

  • Review localized ad creatives and copy for cultural resonance and accuracy.

  • Provide insights and recommendations for country-level ad strategy and performance.

  • Maintain a Japan marketing calendar highlighting key holidays, cultural moments, and seasonal opportunities.

CRM & Reactivation (15%)

  • Review and provide input on localized CRM campaigns (email, push notifications, in-app).

  • Ensure messaging aligns with local culture, tone, and user behavior.

  • Share feedback and ideas to optimize user engagement and retention in Japan.


[REQUIREMENTS]

Professional & Academic Background

  • 6–8 years of experience in marketing, with at least 5+ years in influencer marketing.

  • Hands-on experience managing influencer campaigns in Japan (agency or brand side).

  • Strong understanding of Japanese digital media, consumer behavior, and growth mechanics.

Skills & Competencies

  • Bilingual fluency: Native-level Japanese and business-level English (written & spoken).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and budgets.

  • Strong analytical skills; able to measure and report campaign effectiveness with clarity.

  • Excellent relationship-building skills with influencers, agencies, and cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment with startup-like agility.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in app marketing or education technology.

  • Previous exposure to CRM tools, performance marketing, or lifecycle marketing.

  • Familiarity with start-up culture and working across distributed teams.
