Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Customer Support Specialist

Position Summary

This role provides customer-facing support for next-generation sequencing (NGS) services and projects. Working closely with internal stakeholders such as Team Leads, Technical Application Scientists, Business Leaders, Sales, and Operations, the position focuses on delivering effective NGS solutions to address customer research needs and ensuring smooth execution of confirmed NGS projects from initiation to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide NGS-related consultation, technical guidance, and regular project status updates to customers

  • Prepare NGS quotations and oversee confirmed customer projects through to delivery

  • Track, manage, and troubleshoot NGS projects to ensure quality and timelines are met

  • Support Team Leads, Technical Application Scientists, and Sales teams with account-related activities

  • Analyze bioinformatics data and deliver clear, accurate NGS results to customers

  • Coordinate communication across Business, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure alignment

  • Develop, review, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Visit customer sites and support logistics processes when required

  • Train and onboard Customer Support staff, Project Managers, and related teams

  • Manage customer data, business opportunities, projects, and biological samples

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in project management

  • Strong foundation in molecular biology, preferably with a focus on genetics or genomics

  • Fluency in Japanese

  • Basic English proficiency (minimum high school level)

  • Experience analyzing NGS data and large-scale biological datasets (e.g., microarray, GWAS)

  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology and/or cell biology experiments

  • Working knowledge of biostatistics

  • Experience in contract-based analysis within a corporate environment is a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education

  • Master’s degree in biological sciences preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered
