Role Overview

The Retail Manager oversees commercial performance, store operations, and talent development across designated boutiques. This role ensures sales targets are met, operational standards are upheld, and the brand’s retail presence continues to grow through strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Business Growth

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and in-store initiatives to achieve boutique revenue goals.

  • Monitor and adjust sales forecasts to align with overall business plans.

  • Identify opportunities to expand retail locations and sales channels.

  • Review market trends and competitor activity to generate actionable insights.

Retail Excellence & Store Operations

  • Strengthen operational standards and elevate staff selling capabilities.

  • Oversee daily store operations and resolve product issues and customer concerns.

  • Build productive relationships with department store partners through proactive proposals and negotiations.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Partner with the training team to create development plans for boutique leaders.

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage boutique staff while ensuring compliance with labor regulations.

  • Identify high-potential employees and implement long-term growth and retention strategies.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to boutique managers to enhance leadership skills.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align retail strategies with headquarters and regional teams.

  • Maintain clear communication between boutiques, corporate functions, and external partners to support efficient business operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and embody a collaborative “One Team” culture.

  • Minimum five years of luxury retail experience with strong knowledge of the premium retail environment.

  • Confident negotiator with department stores and key business stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills; capable of building forecasts and developing structured business plans.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with a cooperative working style.

  • High level of professionalism and adherence to company policies and compliance requirements.

  • Flexible, creative, and capable of working independently while proposing new solutions.

  • Strong IT literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills in Japanese and business-level English proficiency.
