Position Overview
This role supports the regional procurement manager in developing and executing sourcing strategies for indirect procurement categories in Japan. The position involves working closely with internal stakeholders across departments such as marketing, retail, supply chain, and IT to identify cost-saving opportunities, manage competitive bidding and contract negotiations, and ensure compliance with procurement processes. The role is based in Tokyo and reports to the APAC Procurement Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy Execution (50%)
Assist in identifying cost optimization opportunities and ensuring compliance with procurement strategies
Lead RFI/RFP processes for goods and services in accordance with company policies
Maintain effective communication throughout the procurement lifecycle
Analyze total cost of ownership for submitted proposals
Lead commercial and legal negotiations for assigned contracts
Support change management initiatives related to sourcing
Develop cost structure templates as needed
Manage contract lifecycle administration
System & Process Support (20%)
Support Oracle iProcurement system and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes
Provide training and maintain procurement documentation for Japan region
Act as superuser for account setup and vendor management
Troubleshoot issues related to purchase requisitions and orders
Prepare monthly spend reports by category and vendor
Procurement Software Utilization (20%)
Maintain RFP boards in procurement software (e.g., Monday.com)
Support implementation of new procurement tools and functions
Travel Program Support (10%)
Assist in managing the company’s travel program in Japan
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Project Management, or related field
Experience
2–5 years in indirect procurement, preferably with exposure to retail-related categories
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management abilities
Experience in contract management
High integrity and reliability
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience in global organizations and managing competing priorities is a plus
Knowledge of indirect procurement categories such as marketing, retail construction, visual merchandising, and travel is a plus
Fluent in Japanese and English or Mandarin
Experience with Oracle iProcurement is advantageous
