Senior Sales Development Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a strategic and culturally fluent Key Account Management Director (or Associate Director) to lead our retail business in Japan. This role is part of the Local Leadership Team and is central to shaping the brand’s retail presence. You will craft distribution strategies, strengthen relationships with key retail accounts, and oversee distribution in the hospitality sector, including hotels, cafés, and spas.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for natural beauty, deep insight into the Japanese premium consumer, and a proven record of growing retail businesses while maintaining a luxury experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Growth & Account Management:
Develop and implement a localized retail distribution strategy to enhance brand positioning in Japan.
Build and manage relationships with key retail partners, negotiating placements, conditions, and joint marketing initiatives.
B2B/Hospitality Team Leadership:
Lead the B2B Hospitality team to maximize channel opportunities and create new client touchpoints.
Sales Analytics:
Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics (ATV, UPT, conversion rates, LTV, NPS) to guide decisions and improve business results.
Market Intelligence:
Track trends in the beauty sector and provide competitive insights to local and global teams.
Team Development:
Lead, coach, and inspire the office team to achieve business goals.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of retail sales leadership experience in cosmetics or beauty sectors in Japan (flexible based on candidate).
Strong relationships with Japanese landlords, including department stores and station malls.
Deep knowledge of Japan’s premium/luxury retail ecosystem and beauty trends.
Strong team leadership, strategic thinking, and business acumen.
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Bilingual: Japanese (native), English (business level).
Preferred:
Experience with global beauty brands.
Track record of elevating brands from premium to luxury in Japan.
Knowledge of CRM, D2C, and omni-channel strategies for Japanese consumers.
