Role Overview
The DTC Merchandising Specialist is responsible for executing seasonal merchandising strategies and key initiatives across direct-to-consumer (DTC) channels, including e-commerce, full-price retail stores, and outlet locations. Reporting to the Merchandising Manager, this role ensures the timely and accurate delivery of the right products to the right locations, aligning with brand strategy and business goals.
The position focuses on Japan-specific assortment planning and purchasing for DTC operations. It also involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, E-commerce, Visual Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Retail to ensure consistent brand presentation and consumer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
DTC Growth Strategy (10%)
Develop category, pricing, and gender-based growth strategies
Maintain SKU/style targets to support profitable growth
Seasonal Assortment Planning (30%)
Lead seasonal product assortments to meet consumer demand and financial objectives
Manage style-color counts, analyze size-level performance, and coordinate order planning
Execute purchase orders for designated DTC channels
In-Season Performance Monitoring (40%)
Analyze retail performance metrics to identify opportunities during the season
Provide regular reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, seasonal)
Recommend actions such as pricing adjustments, reorders, promotions, and inventory transfers
Product Allocation (15%)
Determine initial product allocations for e-commerce, full-price, and outlet stores
Guide allocation support staff to ensure timely replenishment and inventory flow
Adjust allocation strategies based on sales trends and performance
DTC Planning Process (5%)
Manage the DTC go-to-market (GTM) calendar and ensure timely execution of seasonal initiatives
Prepare and deliver presentations for seasonal planning meetings
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in merchandising or a related role, preferably within performance footwear and apparel; DTC experience is a plus
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, macros)
Knowledge of inventory management, financial planning, and allocation processes
Excellent collaboration, communication, and project management abilities
Business-level English proficiency; fluency in Japanese is preferred
