The Japan office supports commercial, service, and operational functions with a small to mid-sized team.
Position Overview
The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for managing procurement activities across both direct and indirect categories, working closely with suppliers in Japan and the broader APAC region. The role supports strategic sourcing initiatives, cost optimization, contract management, and alignment with cross-functional stakeholders. The position requires strong communication and negotiation skills, and collaboration with global teams in regions such as the U.S. and EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
Manage sourcing activities for both direct and indirect categories, including but not limited to:
Direct: Medical device hardware and consumables
Indirect: Travel, fleet, real estate, IT, HR, marketing, and professional services
Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Quality, Logistics, Planning, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs) and external suppliers to maintain stable supply, meet business needs, and identify cost-saving opportunities
Support negotiation processes and contract management for key suppliers and procurement initiatives
Execute sourcing strategies in collaboration with the APAC Sourcing Manager and contribute to global sourcing objectives
Represent and promote key leadership behaviors and principles, including customer focus, adaptability, innovation, and collaboration across teams
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement or sourcing roles
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and supplier executives
Solid analytical and negotiation skills
Experience in contract management and supplier relationship management
Comfortable working in cross-functional and international teams
Language skills: Native-level Japanese and business-level English
Proficiency in SAP systems
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
