Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Asia Compliance, this position will be responsible for supporting and implementing the firm’s global compliance framework while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements in Japan.
Although the primary focus will be Japanese regulatory compliance, the role will also contribute to broader Asia-Pacific compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure ongoing compliance with Japanese regulatory requirements and assist with regional compliance matters as needed
Develop, maintain, and enhance internal compliance policies and procedures
Deliver regular compliance training sessions to employees
Monitor adherence to regulatory obligations and internal standards
Prepare and submit required regulatory filings and reports
Serve as a point of contact for regulatory authorities and represent the firm in regulatory matters
Provide additional compliance support as required
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Strong knowledge of Japanese securities laws and regulations, particularly those applicable to Type II Financial Instruments Business operators and private fund marketing and distribution
Familiarity with retail fund distribution regulations in Japan (advantageous but not mandatory)
Understanding of compliance requirements in other Asia-Pacific jurisdictions such as Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Australia (beneficial but not required)
Experience working collaboratively with regional offices and global headquarters
Ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and clearly communicate compliance requirements to stakeholders
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in time-sensitive situations
A proactive and confident professional approach with high ethical standards
